BACHELOR OF NURSING

PHILOSOPHY

Wellness is a state of happiness that enables a person to lead a psychologically, socially and economically productive life. Individuals, families and communities have an obligation towards taking care of their health.

Nursing is committed to providing the health services in a vital and significant way in the health care delivery ideology. Nursing training notices national health goals and implements those objectives to identifying health needs of the people, planning and providing quality care in collaboration with other health professionals and community groups.

Scope of nursing envelops provision, preventative, healing and reconstructive features of care to people across their life span in a wide variety of health care setting.

B.Sc in Nursing is based education within an academic framework specifically directed to the development of critical thinking skills, competencies and standards required for the practice of professional nursing and midwifery and so on.

AIM

The aim of undergraduate program is to

  • Develop graduates to assume responsibilities as professional, competent nurses and midwives in providing helpful, preventive, curative and rehabilitative services.
  • Prepare nurses for strong decision making in nursing situations, protect the rights of and facilitate individuals and groups in pursuit of health and conduct research studies in the areas of nursing practice.

Objectives

On completion of four year B.Sc. Nursing program the graduate will be able to

  • 1.Apply knowledge from physical, biological and behavioral sciences, medicine including alternative systems and nursing in providing nursing care to individuals, families and communities.
  • 2.Understanding of life style and other factors, which influence health of individuals and groups.
  • 3.Serve nursing care based on steps of nursing process in collaboration with the individuals and groups.
  • 4.Decision making in critical condition
  • 5.Apply the latest trends and technology in providing health care.
  • 6.Provide promotive, preventive and restorative health services in line with the national health policies and programs.
  • 7.Participate effectively as members of the health team in health care delivery system.

Admission Requirement

  • 1.The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years on or before 31st Dec. of the year of admission.
  • 2.Minimum qualification shall be 10+2 from a recognized board or university with science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and English with minimum 45 % aggregate marks.
  • 3.Candidate shall be medically fit.

Career Scope

Duration
  • Duration of the course shall be four years including internship.
Vacation
  • 8 weeks vacation shall be given in each year.
Eligibility
  • Selection of the candidate should be based on the merit of the entrance examination held by University or competent authority.
